It's a small and interconnected world out there...
So this morning I went to a customer who was referred to me by another customer of mine. He had a MacBook Pro and MacBook that had water damage and needed data recovered. No Problem, the drive's are still in pretty good shape. As I'm transferring data we get to talking. He's into music, me to. He's in to tech, Me to. He was a former CEO of AOL Canada... Um... I once had a song placed in a Nissan commercial? Doesn't quite match up, I know. He's Canadian, I'm going to Canada Tomorrow! We both read Bob Lefsetz! We both know some of the same people in the music industry. He's shifting out of the tech world and into the Music world; developing a Jam band and starting an All-in tech savvy management company, I'm shifting away from music (as a source of income) and more into the tech industry (as a source of income.) He dig's Drum and Bass, I made Drum and Bass. It goes on and on. None the less I get back to the office to enter his info in my address book and find a press release about him on line. The press release was written by the person who referred me to him. It sure is a small interconnected world at times. -Joe

Apple’s New Data Center Likely to Focus on Cloud Computing
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/08/apple-cloud/# A 500,000 square foot data center? As the Investors would say, "What's the play here?" Or even better as Tom Waits would say in hushed raspy voice "What are they building in there?" I have no concrete info obviously, but my bet is on the expansion of MobileMe and the move of proccessing power and data storage for apps like iMovie, iPhoto and iWeb. More done in the cloud from where ever you are on what ever platform and device you're on. Maybe it's more simple than that. Maybe it's iDisks big enough to work with time machine and back up your entire system in the cloud. Or perhaps it's to offer spotify like services for both music and movies. On demand and subscription based? Someday we'll know for sure but for now it's back to "What are they Building in there!" -Joe

TomTom navigation for iPhone 3G and 3GS arrives... But at a Hefty Price!
via engadget.com
I'm not quite sure why TomTom went with the massive price tag for this App, $99.99 US, especially since they want you to buy the additional car kit too! I could see $10-$20 for that App and then another $50-70 for the car kit, maybe even a $99.99 price point for the car kit, but at 1st glance I'm experiencing severe sticker shock!

You've got to wonder what was going through the drivers head when she realized she was heading for a 45 degree angle.
